Mission

The mission of this international organization shall be:

  • To establish an international network of scholars, writers, translators/interpreters, students and teachers who share a common interest on interdisciplinary/multidisciplinary studies on Africa and African Diaspora in the Hispanophone, Lusophone and Francophone worlds

  • To serve as a unique space of promotion of the studies driven, but not limited to, by the questions of races/multiracialism/transracialism; ethnicity/multiethnicity/transethnicity; cultures/multiculturalism/transculturalism; gender identities/feminism/womanism; national/transnational identities, etc.

  • To collaborate with individuals, institutions, professional organizations interested in the interdisciplinary/multidisciplinary study of issues related to African and people of African descents, in general

  • To foster the scholarly and teaching exchange among the members of the group

  • To promote the dialogue between different disciplines/fields; and between the

    academic and the non-academic worlds

  • To disseminate the scholarship of the group through publications and organization of/participation in conferences, roundtables, symposia, seminars, workshops, etc.

  • To organize panels conducted also in Spanish, Portuguese and French during own activities and/or allied organizations conventions/conferences

  • To publish Muntú, the eponym peer-reviewed journal of the group, that shall be digital and/or print

  • To create and develop a multilingual digital platforms, including a website and social media to foster a global visibility of the activities of the group

  • To Advocate for an ethics of solidarity among the members of the group; and between the group and all those of individuals, groups and/or people who are unprotected and discriminated
